The Wizard: frequently asked questions
- How do I use The Wizard?
Answer
It’s easy! The questions are designed to help The Wizard assess which of the options available under the dentalcorp Group Benefits & Savings Program are best suited to your needs.
Click Get Started, then go with the flow! No need to keep track of your answers – these will be summarized for your review before you click-through to the Suggestions screen. Want to change one (or many) of your responses? Click Start again to begin again or click the Previous button to get to the screen you need, update your answer, and carry on! It really is that simple.
- Why can’t The Wizard recommend the best suggestion for me (and my family) based on the answers I provide?
Answer
While The Wizard makes suggestions based on the answers you provide, there are often subtleties – little things that only you know – that might influence your benefits and savings decisions. For example, you may be covered under a spouse or partner’s plan and feel that the level of Health coverage under his / her plan is more than adequate to meet your needs.
Or, maybe you feel that you need coverage to supplement what you have. There are many possible scenarios. That’s why The Wizard offers two suggestions. But, know that it’s likely that some of your decisions will be clear-cut, and it’s also likely that some decisions will require you to compare coverage and cost to ensure the suggestion(s) appropriately meet your needs.
- Can I save my answers and the suggestions?
Answer
The Wizard doesn't save your answers, or resulting suggestions, so feel free to print both the summary and suggestions pages.
- What if I’m not sure who I want to cover under the program?
Answer
That’s no problem. You might want to choose Single the first time you use The Wizard, then choose Family the next time, and see if the suggested coverage options are the same or similar, all other things being equal.
- I can’t predict what might happen in the coming year, so how can I answer the questions within this tool?
Answer
Great question! It’s truly impossible to predict, well, the unpredictable. The best you can do is make as informed a decision as possible, taking into consideration the things that are a certainty and including information that is likely to hold true for the coming year.
For example, you know your dependant is going to need braces this coming year (that’s a certainty), and also feel that the past year was typical in terms of the number of prescriptions you needed (comparing it, perhaps, to past years), making you fairly confident that next year will be the same.
Using past experience and current needs can enable you to make as informed a decision as possible regarding your choices.
- How can my past claims experience inform my benefits decisions for the coming year?
Answer
Reviewing the claims you submitted over the past year or two can often help us better understand exactly how much we use prescription drugs / eligible health care services, and how much we spend on these. You can easily and quickly check your history at any time:
- Consider:
- Look at more than just the past year to see if your benefits program use has been similar year to year.
- Do you think the claims you submitted are typical and what you’d expect given your health and approach to wellbeing?
- Do you anticipate submitting eligible claims in a similar pattern this year?
I.e., same type of claims, same frequency of claims / visits, same prescription drugs, etc. - Do you anticipate that you will need more / less coverage this year because you already know that your claims submission pattern in previous year(s) was atypical?
- Consider:
- What if I don’t agree with the suggestions provided by The Wizard?
Answer
The Wizard’s suggestions are strictly based on the responses you provide when answering the questions.
Keep in mind that the questions are designed to provide suggestions that will meet the needs of the general population – they are by no means exhaustive. Only you know what your own specific health, wellbeing and savings needs are, based on your personal history, known factors for the coming year, and your personal situation.
If you feel that another suggestion(s) are more suitable to your needs than those suggested, then explore these further by reviewing the Benefits at a Glance (BAAG), exploring the Plan Member Site, signing up and selecting different options to see the cost impacts, or by calling the dc Benefits Call Centre to get specific coverage-related assistance.
- Why isn’t detailed coverage information included on the Suggestions page?
Answer
To keep The Wizard as straightforward and uncluttered as possible, only the major coverage categories are listed under each benefit: we just couldn’t fit it all on one screen!
To be sure, your best information sources about the coverage available under each benefit option is the Benefits At a Glance (BAAG) and the program booklet.
- Do I need to log out of The Wizard when I’m done?
Answer
No, you do not need to log out. The Wizard doesn’t store any personal information or data. Simply close your browser window when you’re done
